Students from the English Montreal School Board will have their science projects on display at the Montreal Regional Science Fair and Junior Tech Challenge finals on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at Dante Elementary School (6090 de Lachenaie St.) in St. Léonard.

The public is invited to attend between 10 am and Noon on Friday, May 10, and between 8:50 am and 9:50 am on Saturday, May 11. On Friday, Martin Bédard from the Montreal Alouettes will be visiting the students during opening hours. On Saturday, the award ceremony will be held in the gymnasium at 10:25 am.

Elementary students will be presenting their science fair project alone or in a team of two. One project consists of either an experimentation, a design or a study research in one of the seven scientific areas identified. This event is more than a scientific competition, it is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their resourcefulness, creativity and perseverance through an inquiry-based approach.

In addition to the science fair, Technoscience also offers elementary students the opportunity to participate in a Junior Tech challenge. The challenge for the 2018-2019 school year is to design a vehicle that has to descend an inclined plane and stop as close as possible to a target.

EMSB students will present 27 science fair projects out of 48 of the total projects. A total of 44 EMSB students will be participating among these two competitions. The participating schools include: Dante, Honoré Mercier and Pierre de Coubertin School from St. Léonard; and Royal Vale School in Montreal.
